Geotab obtains type-approval for GO9B device
Transport Certification Australia (TCA) is pleased to announce the type-approval of Geotab’s GO9B (Model: GDSAA1) telematics device up to Level 2 assurance, enabling its use in Telematics Monitoring Application (TMA) and Road Infrastructure Management (RIM) schemes under the National Telematics Framework.

“TCA’s type-approval means Geotab’s GO9B (Model: GDSAA1) telematics device has been independently assessed and meets the performance-based requirements outlined in TCA’s Telematics Device Functional and Technical Specification,” he said.
“TCA’s performance-based specifications make the type-approval process device-agnostic. Any telematics device that meets the required physical, environmental, data security and other requirements outlined in the specification can be type-approved, whether it is an aftermarket device, an in-vehicle system, a tablet or another computing and communications platform,” he added.
Geotab, a global provider of vehicle and asset tracking solutions, is certified by TCA as an Application Service Provider for the TMA and RIM applications under the National Telematics Framework. The Framework enables Australian and New Zealand transport agencies to collect trusted vehicle data, supporting improved road safety and operational efficiency through accurate, verifiable information.
The new type-approval follows TCA’s earlier approval of Geotab’s GO9-LTM device and means vehicle operators can now use either type-approved device for enrolment in TMA and RIM schemes. TCA has also approved additional GO9-LTM hardware variants, with variants D, E and F now type-approved.
