Type-Approved OBM Systems

The following is a list of OBM systems type-approved by TCA for use in conjunction with the relevant schemes under the National Telematics Framework that use OBM systems.

Smart OBM systems need to be paired with a certified Application Service Provider (ASP). The ASPs use type-approved telematics devices when pairing with a Smart OBM system. There are approved pairings between ASPs and Smart OBM system suppliers.

Notes:

1- TCA’s type-approved OBM systems can be identified using the TCA Type-Approved logos (right), which correspond with the category of type-approval attained by the system supplier.

2- TCA’s type-approval applies only to the individual systems listed below. Any other system types offered by suppliers have not been type-approved by TCA.

MSU = Mass Sensor Unit.

A Mass Sensor Unit is fitted to each axle group to measure the mass of individual axle groups.

ECU = Electronic Control Unit.

The Electronic Control Unit controls the operation of a Smart OBM system and digitally records mass measurements from MSUs.

TCA Type-Approved Smart OBM System Category C

TCA also type-approves Smart OBM systems to Category C. Currently, there are no type-approved OBM systems at Category C, however you can find out more about what to expect from a Smart OBM (Category C).
