Telematics service providers quick to catch IAP's first wave
Thursday, 10 May 2007
TCA is pleased to announce as an outstanding success its call for applications from telematics industry providers to join the Intelligent Access Program, an initiative offering improved road access to heavy vehicles in return for satellite monitoring.
IAP Service Provider application numbers have already surpassed initial TCA expectations.
“Not only is there awareness in the telematics industry of the importance of the program, but also the very real need for such a program,” according to Mr Chris Koniditsiotis, Chief Executive Officer, TCA Ltd.
With the certification process requiring several months, those industry providers considering certification who haven’t yet applied, need to act quickly – or risk not being part of the first wave of certified IAP Service Providers in the marketplace.
Transport operators will have time to get on board, but should prepare now.
As IAP momentum builds, TCA would like to assure transport operators that the implementation schedule for the program will allow them time to engage their preferred IAP Service Provider.
“We understand that this process will take time, and TCA is working with stakeholders to ensure a smooth IAP implementation process”, assures Mr Koniditsiotis.
“However now is definitely the time for transport operators to be doing their research and discussing ‘IAP readiness’ with their telematics providers”, he informs.
“Otherwise transport operators buying telematics equipment and services now, risk buying products that are not IAP compliant and have to be replaced,” he said.
