Transport Certification Australia Limited (TCA) has released a new publication: Transport Operator & Driver Guideline - Getting started in the Intelligent Access Program.
As the name suggests, the guideline is intended to provide transport operators and drivers with a general understanding of the IAP, how to get started in the program, and outlines their obligations as participants in the IAP.
Sections in the publication include:
- About the IAP
- Getting started, Operating in & Leaving the IAP
- Obligations
- Reporting Malfunctions, Tampering & Privacy
- Further information
The IAP provides the opportunity for vehicles to gain access, or improved access, to the Australian road network in return for monitoring of compliance with specific access conditions using modern telematics technology.
The IAP provides the potential for transport operators to achieve productivity gains, better turnaround times and increased profits. It also creates the possibility for a transport operator to develop an advantage over competitors. If a transport operator is enrolled in the IAP and a direct competitor is not, the enrolled operator may be able to deliver a better service to their customers.
The IAP is moving steadily towards its IAP Goes Live phase scheduled for later this year, with the first wave of applicants currently working towards achieving certification as IAP Service Providers.
The Transport Operator & Driver Guideline - Getting started in the Intelligent Access Program fulfils an important role in this lead-up period, providing transport operators and drivers with easy access to general information about participating in the IAP.
