Mr Golding’s career spans 35 years with Queensland’s Department of Main Roads. He held the position of Director-General from July 2000 until March 2005.
During his time at Main Roads, Mr Golding oversaw the delivery of a Roads Implementation Program that increased from a fiver-year total of $4 billion to $8 billion, and the delivery of the $950m Pacific Motorway upgrade from Brisbane to the Gold Coast.
Mr Golding is currently a director on the Mackay Port Authority and Group Chairman of The CEO Circle (Brisbane). He was a director of the Bundaberg Port Authority and served on a number of committees, including that of Chairman on the Austroads Intelligent Access Program Steering Committee.
TCA Chief Executive, Mr Chris Koniditsiotis welcomes Mr Golding’s strong background in road systems management and his unparalleled knowledge of the Intelligent Access Program (IAP) in which he successfully led a feasibility study in 2003.
“Steve has joined TCA at a crucial time when we are actively setting up systems and procedures to commence roll-out of IAP,” Mr Koniditsiotis said.
“For us, Steve’s leadership will be an integral part in successfully implementing the IAP across the Australian road network in the next six months and administering the IAP in years to come,” he said.
Mr Golding replaces outgoing Chairman Mr Paul Forward who was instrumental in seeking State and Territory government endorsements to establish TCA as the national organisation for heavy vehicle transport reform.
“On behalf of TCA and the Board of Directors I would like to acknowledge Paul Forward’s contribution in establishing TCA and his support for the IAP,” Mr Koniditsiotis said.
