Tuesday, 28 March 2006
Transport Certification Australia Limited (TCA) is now officially open for business announced Mr Steve Golding, Chairman, Board of Directors to more than 100 dignitaries at a function held yesterday evening (Monday 27 March).
Established as a public company on 15 August 2005, TCA now has a full team on-board to commence its role of implementing and administrating the Intelligent Access Program (IAP).
“During the past seven months, the small TCA team has had to face two major challenges,” Mr Golding said.
“The first challenge has been to establish and physically set-up TCA. While doing this, the team had to ensure that they didn’t loose focus on the second major challenge facing the company – that is to take the Intelligent Access Program to market.
“And with a full team now on board, I can proudly declare that TCA is now fully operational and open for business and is on track to take the IAP to market in the 2006/2007 financial year” said Mr Golding.
At the function, the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Chris Koniditsiotis joined Mr Golding to officially launch the IAP Quality Monitoring Station.
Mr Koniditsiotis explained to the audience that the Quality Monitoring Station will be used by TCA as part of its role to audit IAP Service Providers and to monitor each IAP Service Providers’ respective type-approved in-vehicle-units.
During the evening, Messrs. Golding and Koniditsiotis acknowledged and thanked the many stakeholders who were instrumental in seeking government endorsements to establish TCA and for their support in moving the IAP forward.
“There has been a lot of people from the various Australian road transport authorities and government departments, from the telematics industry, transport operators, and other business partners, who have spent endless hours pre and post TCA days helping to mould the IAP”.
“But regardless of each stakeholder’s reasons for participating in the IAP, everyone will soon realise the vital role they are playing in increasing the productivity and sustainability of the Australian road network. And the positive offset is increase safety, better manage the use of infrastructure and reduce environmental impacts as a result”, said Mr Golding.
Mr Golding added: “To ensure that each stakeholder achieves their desired outcome from the IAP, TCA will continue to build on the solid relationships it has developed with everyone with ongoing two-way communications and keeping everyone informed with our latest news and information”.
The evening was attended by people from the transport industry, telematics industry, and from various Australian road transport authorities.
