New fact sheets outline IAP benefits

Transport Certification Australia Limited (TCA), the company administering the Intelligent Access Program (IAP) is developing a new series of fact sheets designed to inform transport operators of the benefits of participating in the IAP.
In announcing the new fact sheets, TCA Chief Executive Officer Chris Koniditsiotis, explained their purpose.
“At TCA we are committed to delivering a smooth understanding of the IAP and the benefits that it provides users. To assist in achieving this, I am pleased to announce the development of a new series of fact sheets with the theme IAP – what’s in it for me.
“The IAP – what’s in it for me fact sheets will detail specific transport operator uses of IAP. They will highlight the reasoning and rationale behind their choice, how the IAP is utilised, and the benefits. In effect, each fact sheet will be a case study, demonstrating to other transport operators and users the benefits available through the IAP,” Mr Koniditsiotis said.
The IAP is a voluntary program which provides heavy vehicles with improved access to Australia’s road network in return for monitoring of compliance with specific access conditions by vehicle telematics solutions.
According to Mr Koniditsiotis, effective communication tools play an important role when introducing initiatives such as the IAP.
“As I have stated previously, implementing reform is difficult. Unlike physical products, services require people to apply them and think through the issues that underpin them.
“The IAP – what’s in it for me fact sheets, like the IAP website, are a way of creating a tangible presence for the IAP.”
In the first fact sheet, TCA is planning to look at Basin Sands Logistics (BSL), a Broken Hill transport operation that has achieved a significant increase in productivity under the NSW Government’s Road Train Modernisation Program, utilising AB-Triples at Higher Mass Limits (HML) with the IAP to operate at a permitted gross vehicle mass of 113 tonnes.
It is expected the first IAP – what’s in it for me fact sheet will be available for download from www.IAP.gov.au, the IAP website, in mid-September.
