New TCA appointee to assist transport industry with IAP

Friday, 1 December 2006

Transport Certification Australia Limited (TCA) today announced the appointment of Mr Kenneth Cleverdon as its National Liaison Manager – Transport Industry to work closely with the transport industry to ensure they derive the maximum benefits from the Intelligent Access Program (IAP).

Mr Cleverdon’s career spans 25 years within the transport industry having worked at Westar Trucks and Dana Australia. He also has extensive experience in global positioning systems for commercial vehicle fleets while working with the vehicle telematics industry.

TCA Chief Executive, Mr Chris Koniditsiotis welcomes Mr Cleverdon’s strong background in the both the transport and telematics industries.  He brings a unique combination which is required in his role in promoting the benefits of the IAP to transport operators while understanding the technical and functional components of the program.

“In his role as the National Liaison Manager – Transport Industry, Kenneth will be working closely with transport operators to help them identify and understand how they can apply the IAP to achieve their business requirements”, said Mr Koniditsiotis.

The new appointee, Mr Kenneth Cleverdon, said the IAP provides opportunities for the transport industry, freight forwarders and other parties, but it is clear, that the benefits will differ from operator to operator based on the exact nature of their business.

“The main focus of my role will be to create a greater awareness of the IAP and how it can be applied by a specific transport operator – be it an owner/driver or large transport company”, said Mr Cleverdon.

“I will be working very closely with the transport associations by holding IAP information with their members and providing education materials explaining how the IAP works. And when required I will even take on the role of an advocate to the industry and individual operators where the IAP is concerned”, he said.

As part of his role, Mr Cleverdon will chair TCA’s, yet to be formed, transport industry user group consisting of representatives from Australia’s leading trucking associations and transport operators. He will commence his duties in mid December 2006.
