IAP role for Tasmanian buses
With the Intelligent Access Program (IAP) entering its live phase, the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources (DIER) in Tasmania has advertised for tenders from IAP Service Providers for systems to improve the reporting of contract performance for both free to the user and fare paying bus services in Tasmania.
According to the Conditions of Participation outlined in the advertisement, ‘the tenderer must have applied for Transport Certification Australia (TCA) IAP certification and the successful tenderer must be a TCA fully certified IAP Service Provider’.
TCA Chief Executive Officer, Chris Koniditsiotis, welcomed the news.
“The request from the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources for tenders from IAP Service Providers is an indicator of the potential the IAP can offer government and other organisations as a contract management tool.
“The IAP is not a ‘one trick pony’. We have built a framework that provides flexibility and looks to the future as it builds on existing telematics capabilities, and this request for tender highlights that,” Mr Koniditsiotis said.
According to the DIER, the closing date for tenders has been extended until 21 May 2008 at 2pm.
**Please note: the DIER has advised the closing date for tenders has now been extended to 2pm Wednesday 16 July 2008. Contact the DIER for further details.
